How we create every recipe on this site

Transparency matters to us. Here is exactly how The Cooking Twins develops, tests, and publishes content so you know what you’re getting every time you cook one of our recipes.

Our editorial mission

indulgent dinners and easy desserts that are thoroughly tested, honestly written, and worth your time in the kitchen. We do not publish for volume. We publish when a recipe is genuinely ready.

Every recipe on this site has been cooked by at least one of us, evaluated for taste and reproducibility, and reviewed by the other twin before going live. If it didn’t work reliably in our kitchen, it does not go on the site.

How we test every recipe

Step 1: Independent testing

Emma and Ella each cook the recipe separately, on different days, keeping written notes on results, measurements, timing, and anything that went wrong. Testing independently means one person’s mistake doesn’t become the published version.

Step 2: Comparison and revision

We compare our results, identify what needs to change more seasoning, different ratios, different timing, different technique then test the revised version until we both agree it works. If there is a disagreement, we test again. The recipe does not move forward until we reach consensus.

Step 3: Real notes, not generic tips

The testing observations in every recipe card are our actual notes from this process. When we say “chill for 4 hours minimum,” it is because 2 hours failed in testing. When we say “full-fat cream cheese only,” it is because we tested the low-fat version and it did not hold. Our recipe notes are observations, not filler.

Step 4: Review before publishing

The twin who did not write the article reviews it before it goes live. We check that the instructions match what we actually did, that the ingredients are correct, and that the testing notes accurately reflect our experience.

Authorship

All recipes and articles on The Cooking Twins are written by Emma Frost, Ella Frost, or both together. Every recipe page includes a clear author card identifying which twin tested and wrote that specific recipe, along with the date it was last tested.

We do not publish content from guest contributors, anonymous authors, or AI systems without thorough human review and editing.

Our use of AI writing tools

We may use AI tools as part of our drafting process. However, every piece of content published on this site is reviewed, edited, and personally approved by Emma or Ella before publication. Testing notes, personal observations, and recipe results always reflect our real experience in a real kitchen. We do not publish AI-generated content without substantive human editing and verification.

Keeping recipes accurate

Recipes include a “Last tested” date in the author card. If we discover an error, receive consistent reader feedback about a recipe not working, or find a better technique after additional testing, we update the article and revise the date.

If you find an error in one of our recipes, please email us at hello@thecookingtwins.com. We investigate all reports, re-test when needed, and update within 7 business days of confirming an issue.

Sponsored content and affiliate links

The Cooking Twins participates in affiliate programs including Amazon Associates. When you click a product link and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. We only use affiliate links for products we have genuinely used and would recommend regardless of compensation.

When we publish content in partnership with a brand, we disclose this clearly at the top of the article. Brand partnerships do not influence our testing conclusions. If a sponsored recipe does not work, we fix it or we do not publish it.
